Aftercare
Essential for Healing and Protection
A tattoo is more than a work of art; it's a medical process involving a needle machine injecting ink into your skin. This process creates an open wound, susceptible to infection and scarring. Proper aftercare is crucial in preventing these risks. Please Read this full document before preforming aftercare
Effective Covering Techniques
Our studio employs various methods to shield your tattoo:
Translucent Adhesive Bandage:
Names: saniderm, derm-shield, second skin.
Initial bandage should be left on for a maximum of 24 hours. If you have any at home you can reapply and leave on for up to a week as long as tattoo doesn’t weep. It's normal for the bandage to fill with ink or plasma (weeping). Remove the bandage if it leaks to avoid bacterial contamination. Remove bandage if you experience an allergic reaction.
Before removing, wash your hands thoroughly. Use warm water to loosen adhesive. Pull bandage parallel to the body. Once removed clean your tattoo.
Absorbent Bandage:
Names: Coban, Sensi Wrap, Dri-lock
This method, combined with antibacterial ointment, requires a minimum covering time of four hours. Ensure the bandage covers the tattoo and adjust it with clean hands if it moves.
Cleaning Your Tattoo
Before cleaning, wash your hands thoroughly and use warm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap (avoid bar soap) to clean the tattoo. Let it air dry before applying aftercare products sparingly.

Stay Hydrated & Moisturize
Taking care of your tattooed skin post-healing is crucial to maximize its longevity. It is paramount to keep your skin well-hydrated and moisturized. Adequately moisturizing your tattooed skin not only sustains its vibrancy but also preserves the ink's integrity. Opting for a mild, fragrance-free lotion can effectively combat dryness and prevent fading.
Think Before You Ink
When contemplating a tattoo, factor in the location's influence on its longevity. Body areas subjected to frequent movement are more prone to fading. For instance, tattoos on the shoulder might necessitate more frequent touch-ups compared to those on less mobile spots. Mindfully choosing the placement can significantly impact how gracefully your tattoo ages. Additionally to this consider that colors you use. As a general rule of thumb the darker the color the longer it lasts. Lighter colors fade much faster.
Conclusion
In essence, the ultimate formula for safeguarding your tattoo for a lifetime entails diligent aftercare and careful forethought prior to getting inked. By adhering to these guidelines, you can safeguard that your tattoo endures as a striking and significant chapter of your journey for decades to come.
